Things to do in Woodford

Having personally lived in Woodford Green for most of my life, I am confident that you won't find a place with a better balance of urban convenience and rural, natural beauty. Below I have listed the main highlights from my years of living in the area:

Woodford Broadway Delights

The Broadway not only boasts the Central Line Station, which takes you directly into and through Central London within only 30 minutes, but it has a huge array of great shops. For example, the 'Broadway Deli and Grocery' which has such an incredible stock of natural and handpicked delicacies and food items, as well as great authentic coffees and local produce. Belgique is a firm favourite for anyone with specific dietary requirements too. For those looking for a great brunch, a simple healthy smoothie or a delicious baked good - this place has always been my 'go to'! 'Fat Fish' is the newest addition to the Broadway selling a huge selection of fantastic fishy produce of only the highest quality! Restaurant-wise there is Rosso, the local Italian, The White Swan, the local Chinese and Mezzo on The Broadway for a great Turkish meal. For convenience, there is also a Coop and a Sainsbury's!

Woodford High Street

With the Broadway AND the High Street - you feellike you have TWO high streets full of great amenities. On the High Street is the famous 'Bel-Sit' for the best and most lively Italian experience in town, as well as Mojos, which is fantastic for cocktails, lunches, dinners and baked goods! Finally there is Miller and Carter for that reliable meat fix.

Woodford Golf Club

While I am no golfer, I loved this area for great walks and bike rides; taking you straight to Chingford, Loughton or even High Beech, through amazing woodland. There are an array of local ponds, such as Connaught ponds or even Highams Park Lake.

Woodford Bridge

On the other side of Woodford Station, you have Snakes Lane East - which holds even MORE cafes, bakeries and local produce. You have the fantastic Ray Park, for some local tennis, dog walking, basketball or football training, or you can just relax with an ice cream from the local shop.

Pubs

While there are too many to talk about here, some of my firm favourites hidden gems included the Rose and Crown, tucked away at the High Street with its cosy beers garden and great food. Additionally, we have the Travellers Friend, just a short walk towards Woodford Wells which has a great menu!

Winston Churchill Statue

A very famous monument to Woodford’s greats include the statue to Winston Churchill that stands on a corner of The Green, and a blue plaque on the house where Clement Attlee lived in the Monkhams Estate. Winston Churchill, the great wartime leader, was MP for Woodford from 1945 to 1964 and Clement Attlee, who succeeded him as prime minister in the reforming post-war 1945 Labour government, lived in Monkhams Avenue when he was MP for Walthamstow West from 1950 to 1956.
