About South Woodford and Woodford Green
I have had the pleasurable experience of working in the South Woodford and Woodford area for over 35 years, and still clearly remember my initial thoughts when first moving to the area, of 'what a wonderful place to live and work, with it having so much green space, yet being so close to the City. Thirty-five years later, and I still feel the same!South Woodford is a suburban area, located within the borough of Redbridge and characterised by leafy streets, and both Edwardian and Victorian architecture. There is a bustling central hub in George Lane, filled with shops such as Waitrose and M&S, as well as restaurants such as Nino's; my personal favourite since Churchill Estates opened on George Lane in 1999! There is a great choice of cafes, including Gail's bakery and for entertainment, there is the listed art deco Odeon Cinema. The area is well connected to Central London via the Central Line Station located on George Lane, which makes it an easy commute to work or to explore the City of London. There are also several beautiful parks nearby, including Roding Valley and of course, Epping Forest; which provides an abundance of opportunities for outdoor activities. The community in South Woodford is diverse and welcoming, and there are fantastic schools, both State and Independent, making it a particularly attractive option for families.Overall I believe that living and working in South Woodford and Woodford Green offers the perfect balance of urban convenience and suburban tranquillity; making it a popular choice for those looking for a peaceful place to call home within easy reach of London's amenities.Philip Mount, South Woodford Senior Branch Manager.
